COVID-19 and adapted physical education

As lockdown took place throughout Europe, concerns have been raised about the way physical education continued (or not) during remote schooling. The immediate transition from face to face to remote physical education left many teachers unprepared and having to deal with many technologies that required changes to the knowledge, content and pedagogy. The situation may have been further complicated when working with pupils with special educational needs. Therefore, it has raise the question of whether the existing standards for adapted physical education require a review.

Data collection

Members of EUFAPA are requesting that teachers complete a survey on key aspects in the preparation of teachers who provide Physical Education of students with special educational needs. The comprehensive survey is comprised of the state of the art scientific measures and takes on average 30 minutes. As such, we allow the teachers to save their entries, giving more time to complete the survey later.

The survey is available in

  • English
  • French
  • Latvian
  • Lithuanian
  • Portuguese

and can be accessed by the following link

The deadline for survey submission has been extended until midnight (CET) 20th July 2020.

Please complete this survey if you are a physical education teacher with students with special educational needs. Also, please pass it on to any of your colleagues to complete as the information would be used for developing scientific and policy based outputs.
